Welcome to the first official weekend of fall, everyone!
Thanks to the cool weather this week, the leaves are starting to change, the apples are ready to be picked, and the corn mazes are waiting to be explored! Let’s get going on all the great things your family can enjoy this weekend.
You can find our round up of local corn mazes, apple orchards, and pumpkin u-picks here. Some highlights: apples and drinks at Belliveau Orchard in Memramcook, a wagon ride at Les Petits Fruits de Pré-d’en-Haut, apples and pumpkins and fishing at Le Verger Goguen near Cocagne, and a sunflower maze and incredible ice cream at Trueman’s in Sackville. Boyle Family Farm north of Moncton now features a family-friendly corn maze and petting zoo, and there’s always LOTS for the family to enjoy at the Green Pig Market in Salisbury with mini corn mazes perfect for toddlers, as well as a larger maze, the popular pumpkin blaster, and flashlight nights this weekend. (If you’re heading to the Green Pig, you might want to know there’s a pancake breakfast at the Salisbury Lions Club Saturday morning. Always a great deal & a great meal!)
It’s the annual Fall Festival in Sackville, with lots of awesome events including Family Day at the Doncaster Farm (live music for the kiddos, pony rides and petting zoo, bouncy castle, axe throwing, food vendors, and more!), the Anything That Floats Race, fireworks on Friday night, the Fall Fair Parade, amusement rides, a sandcastle making contest at Lillas Fawcett Park, and so much more! Friday night the Friends of the SES Cubs are hosting a Back to School Bash for parents & students.
West Riverview Elementary School’s Home & School Association is showing The Secret Life of Pets 2 at the school Friday night.
This weekend is the annual Riverview Holistic Fair; check out their schedule of workshops and events.
You can splurge on a special breakfast with the tigers at the Magnetic Hill Zoo this weekend; there are sessions on both Saturday and Sunday. You can enjoy continental breakfast, an educational presentation, up-close viewing of the tigers, and more. The event runs 8:30am-10am and costs $65/person.
Saturday the science faculty at the Université de Moncton is holding a free event filled with hands-on science events for kids and their parents. It looks like a great event; you’re asked to register in advance but it is free!
At the movies this weekend, the Sussex Drive In is showing Angry Birds and Angel has Fallen for its last weekend of the season, Shediac’s Neptune Drive In is playing Angel has Fallen and 47 Meters Down, and the $2.99 Saturday morning special listed at Cineplex is Puss in Boots.
Close to the Heart is host to lots of incredible workshops and community events; this weekend includes a session on pregnancy and pelvic floor health!
Chapters is holding a Harry Potter event Saturday morning; please register for the free event.
The City of Dieppe is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Aquatic Centre on Saturday, with lots of extras at a public swim from 3-8pm. There will be prizes, clowns, pizza, a DJ, and more! Family rate of $10!
Saturday evening is the 3rd annual Becca Schofield Day Of Kindness at the Riverview Arts Centre. Enjoy a BBQ and community concert!
Sunday at Chapters there’s a paid crafting event; for $10 (plus taxes & fees) your child can learn to make a mini plush unicorn cake pop and create a cute cat hair accessory.
Antique Roadshow dreams? Live them out Sunday at Resurgo Place! Bring your vintage and collectible treasures for appraisal; there is a $5-$10 cost.
The Muddy River Rollers are holding an open house this Sunday afternoon; check them out for a different way to stay active this fall!
The annual Soapbox Derby organized by the local branch of the Association of Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick is happening Sunday. It’s sure to be a fun event!
