It’s threatening to be a rainy, windy weekend, so be sure to double check each source for any cancellations or changes before heading out, but don’t let the chance of some stormy skies keep you from planning a fantastic weekend with the family.
Kick off the weekend with a block party with Radio-Canada Acadie! The team will be at Avant-Garde Park in Dieppe from 5:307:30pm with BBQ, games, and more – including visits from Ari Cui Cui and the crew from Alix!
Teachers, it’s been a busy week, and we hope one filled with more smiles than not. Something that’s sure to make you smile – free admission to the corn maze at the Green Pig in Salisbury! That’s right; show your ID on Saturday or Sunday and you can enjoy everything for free!
Little Wildcat fan in the house? Check out the event at Wee College on Trites Road in Riverview on Friday! Wild Willie will be at the centre for the afternoon, signing up fans for the Wee College Junior Cats Club. You can enjoy tickets to the Wildcats’ Sunday home games, discounted tickets for guests, Wildcats swag, and an invite to Willie’s Pizza Party! All this is just $36.50 plus tax per child, for ages 12 and under. This is available to anyone – you don’t have to be connected to Wee College!
The big event this weekend is the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta in Sussex, regardless of the weather. The festival goes ahead rain or shine; the balloons may or may not fly, but there will be the indoor market, vendors, music, amusement rides, and more!
We’re also super excited for the Kreativ Children’s Festival Jeunesse, presented by The School of Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada, NOW POSTPONED UNTIL SEPT 15. This will be a free, outdoor event (rain date Sunday) with live performances, workshops, photobooth (the costumes are going to be amazing – think of some of the theatre shows the ballet has produced lately!), and much more. Go click ‘going’ on their Facbeook event so you’ll get all the updates & details! #ad
NOW CANCELLED on Saturday is the 5K Foam Fest, which includes a free kids zone, food vendors, a beer garden, and more.
Looking for a fall activity for your child? Check out the registration event happening at the Byron Dobson Centre in Riverview on Saturday! Lots of great local groups will be on hand from 10am until noon.
If you’re looking for something a little different, there’s a fencing demonstration planned in front of Moncton City Hall between 1 & 3pm.
There’s also a great chance to test out ringette on Saturday and Sunday at the Arthur J. LeBlanc Arena.
And if you’ve ever thought about pottery for you or your family, stop by the Open House at The Clayspace on Saturday!
Saturday is the Downtown Moncton ArtWalk. This is a free event, though you can purchase tokens to redeem for food and drinks along the way. There are nearly two dozen businesses hosting local artists; a great way to explore downtown and celebrate local talent!
The Lutz Mountain Fall Fest is NOW MOVED TO NEXT Saturday, with baking contests, a cake walk, homemade ice cream, BBQ, kids games, petting zoo, and more!
Saturday at Chapters there’s a PAW Patrol Supersonic Jet toy demo, a Peppa the Pig sticker craft, PlayDoh and more at 11am!

At the movies this weekend, the Sussex Drive In is dark for the balloon fiesta, Shediac’s Neptune Drive In is playing It and It: Chapter 2, and the $2.99 Saturday morning special listed at Cineplex is Secret Life of Pets 2.
Sunday kicks off apple-picking season at Verger Belliveau Orchard with a free community BBQ from 11am until 2pm!
The Hopewell Rocks are holding an Albert County Appreciation Event on Sunday; admission is free with a donation for the food bank.
For indoor idea, our MEGA LIST of what to do with the kids is always full of inspiration. A few highlights: Skyzone Moncton, Hop Skip Jump!, FitRocks Climbing Gym, Riverview Indoor Skatepark, Crystal Mountain Party Palace, and all the local arcades and the bowling alleys are all great options. Timber Lounge Moncton welcomes kids ages 10 and up during certain hours, Room Escape Atlantic has rooms for ages 8 and up, and teens are welcome at Mystery Moncton Mystere. There’s also Resurgo Place and DIY Studio, too! Unfortunately, the pool options are limited this weekend, as both the Dieppe Aquatic Centre and Riverview’s Pat Crossman Aquatic Centre are closed for maintenance until September 20. But as of September 1, there is no charge to park at Parlee Beach for the rest of 2019!
Well, that’s all for now, folks! Keep an eye on the weather forecast and enjoy your weekend!
