When Deji Ayoola and his wife began looking for playful yet educational programming for their young children in Moncton, they weren’t finding what they wanted. So they decided to fill that gap with Snapology.
Snapology is a play-based STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) program with options from pre-school to middle school.
“My wife and I were researching after school programs for our oldest, who is about to start Kindergarten this year,” explains Deji. “We wanted something to enrich her education through engaging, creative learning. Our children have always been interested in creative play, intrigued by the science of the world around them, as lots of kids their age are. A lot of top tech companies – Google, Amazon, 3M, etc – are adopting and investing in play-based approaches to engage kids in STEAM concepts. This led us to Snapology and their philosophy.”
But Deji and his wife didn’t invest in Snapology until they knew their children approved.
“We went to Snapology’s headquarters in Pittsburgh with our three children – ages four, two, and eight-months-old – to meet the CEO,” he shares. “Our children were engaged and learned so much in such a short period of time. We felt this would be a great tool to complement our children’s education in Moncton, and we knew other parents would feel the same.”
Deji says he appreciates the “innovative approach” Snapology takes to engage kids in STEAM-based activities, using popular themes such as Ninjago, Pokemon, Minecraft, and so on to convey the concepts. “The kids can build upon this, sparking a lifelong interest in learning,” he says.
Snapology offers programming for pre-schoolers through to Grade 8, with various delivery methods including workshops, after-school programming, summer camps, birthday party packages, and more.
Deji and his family are still somewhat new to Moncton, having moved here two years ago from Ontario. “I am an engineer and my wife is in the medical field,” he shares. “We relocated to Moncton because we believe it is a great place to raise a family. We are passionate about engaging our kids in learning and exploring and developing their interests. We love to play basketball and soccer as a family, getting on the trails on our bikes with the kids in tow, and researching fun science experiments and executing them!”
