DIY St. Patrick’s Day Slime

So the kids want to make slime – and you want to make sure it’s decent and easy? We’ve got you covered!

Just three simple ingredients to make this awesome slime for St. Patrick’s Day!

You can dress it up or keep it easy with just glue, baking soda, and contact solution.

Yes, contact solution is the key to non-powdered Borax slime! Read on, though – not just any kind will do.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of Elmer’s green glitter glue
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Renu contact solution (Any solution with both Boric Acid and Sodium Borate will work – that’s what you get with Borax, it’s just easier to use contact solution. But be sure to check the label, as these are not present in all contact solutions. We found Renu worked great & was inexpensive to purchase for crafting purposes!)
  • St. Patrick’s Day extras – coloured beads, gold coins, lucky charms 🙂

Instructions

Start with your glue. We measured 4 tablespoons because we didn’t want to make TOO big of a batch; you could use a whole 177 ml (6 fl oz) container and triple the rest of this recipe. (PRO TIP: If you’re going with our 4 tablespoon measurement and using the funky glue bottle with bumps on the side, it’s basically two bumps worth.)

Add the baking soda and mix well.

Finally, add in the contact solution. Do this slowly and constantly stirring.

At this point, you can add any extras you might want to the mix! We went with rainbow coloured beads for our St. Patrick’s Day slime, but use your own creativity and items on hand — or just leave it glittery and green!

Take it out of the bowl and knead in your hands. This is the kids’ favourite part! This slime recipe worked very well for us; the eldest declared it the best yet, and she’s made quite a few!
