We love a good book sale – and the annual Laubach Literacy New Brunswick fundraiser is a great time to stock up for the whole family! Stop by Edith Cavell School on Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday morning for the Bookstravaganza.
The Town of Riverview holds a free family movie showing one Friday a month; this week, enjoy Hotel Transylvania 3 on the big screen with free popcorn and an onsite canteen. Doors open at 6pm at the Community Hall.
It’s fire safety week, which means lots of fun events at local stations! In Moncton, the Hildegard Fire Station is holding an open house from 10am until noon on Saturday. There will be trucks, rescue vehicles, demonstrations of the Jaws of Life and more. In Riverview, stop by the fire station for a pancake breakfast from 8am until 11am, children’s activities including bouncy castles, face painting, rides on Little Albert Engine 11½ and more from 11am until 2pm, as well as an onsite BBQ. Dieppe’s open house takes place from 10am until 2pm, with guided tours, bouncy castles, face painting, a BBQ, and more at Fire Station 1 on Gauvin Road. There’s also an open house at the fire station in Cap Pele on Sunday, as well as one in Memramcook on Sunday.
The annual Monster Trot fundraiser for the Atlantic Wellness Centre takes place Saturday at the Moncton Coliseum. Always a fun time for families to dress up and trick-or-treat around the Moncton Coliseum; $10 per treat-gatherer!
Michael’s has lots of spooking crafting fun this month, including spooky slime make & take on Saturday, as well as the regular Saturday morning Kids Club sessions (costs range from $2 to $5, depending on age).
Chapters is holding a Harry Potter LEGO event on Saturday morning; registration is required by calling 506-855-8075.
Mastermind Toys is celebrating its first anniversary in Moncton with a lot of fun planned for Saturday in store, including cupcakes, make-and-takes, and special deals all weekend – stop by Friday and Sunday, too!.
Toys R Us is holding a LEGO Jurassic World make & take event on Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
Ready Player One is the Family Favourites choice at Cineplex this Saturday; just $2.99 a ticket!
Constructive Destruction labs are back at Resurgo Place this month; stop by between 10am and noon to tinker and learn!
Salisbury Public Library is showing Paddington 2 (with free popcorn) on Saturday at 2pm.
Saturday afternoon is Crafternoon at the Moncton Library; no registration required for this bilingual event, which happens the second Saturday of each month at 2:30pm.
Sunday is the annual Walk to Remember, honouring children lost in pregnancy and infancy. This is a short walk around the Moncton Hospital and a gathering at the hospital. You can learn more on our podcast with the walk organizers.
Mosque’s across the world are opening their doors to visitors on Sunday, including ours here in Moncton. More than 300 people came out last year! Enjoy guided tours, tea, and family activities between 1 and 4pm.
Hillside Baptist Church is hosting a farm-themed event for children from kindergarten to Grade 5, from 9am until 11am on Sunday. There will be farm-themed snacks, crafts, games, and more – including folks dressed up in their best farm costumes!
Enjoy some shopping at the Hello Fall Bazzar at Riverview’s Community Hall on Sunday; admission is by donation to the Frank L Bowser Playground Fund.
